The Prophet (Sal’lal’laa’hu A’lay’hi Was’sal’lam - Peace, Blessings, Mercy and Salutations be upon him) exhorted his Companions to spread the knowledge he conveyed to them. During one of the most important and famous sermons – which he delivered during the Farewell Pilgrimage – the Prophet (Sal’lal’laa’hu A’lay’hi Was’sal’lam - Peace, Blessings, Mercy and Salutations be upon him) said:

And let the one who is present here convey (this message) to the one who is absent. For among those to whom my message is conveyed, there may be some who will understand (what I say) better than those who hear (what I say first-hand)
